A clever player uses a simple trick to freeze and drown several Bokoblin enemies at once inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Bokoblin, Moblin, and other enemies tend to group up against Link inThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, but fused weapons have the potential to take down crowds of enemies in a few strikes.
Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom’sFuse abilitymay be unlocked early into a playthrough, and the ability’s usefulness extends into the very end of the game. Fuse strengthens the overall attack power of Link’s weapons, and some fusions may grant additional bonuses in combat. For example, fusing a Ruby gem with a sword allows Link to set enemies on fire with each swing. Link may also fuse items into a shield to strengthen the shield’s defense stats.

Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer stewymanx378 froze and drowned a group of Bokoblins inside a cave near the Lanaryu Promenade. The player was able to drown these Bokoblins by using a Sapphire Rod, a weapon that summons a large plume of freezing mist with each swing. The Sapphire Rod’s freezing mist is potent, causing enemies to remain frozen for roughly 30 seconds after making successful contact. A single swing from the Sapphire Rod froze all the Bokoblins, and stewymanx378 proceeded to push these enemies into a nearby pond to quickly dispose of them.
This clever trick allowed stewymanx378 to easily procure several Bokoblin monster parts, which are useful for weapon fusion andcreating elixirs inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The user’s Sapphire Rod was created by fusing a Sapphire gem with a Magic Rod. Fusing a Sapphire gem with a wooden stick would also suffice, but fusion with a Magic Rod increases the potency of the freezing mist and the weapon’s overall durability.
Bokoblins cannot swim inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom, so this trick may prove useful in areas close to lakes and oceans, includingthe Bokoblin-infested Lurelin Village. However, this particular trick will not work on large boss enemies like Hinox and Stalnox, so players may want to target Bokoblins and smaller enemies instead.
A similar freezing effect may be achieved by firing arrows fused with Ice Fruit or Sapphire gems inZelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Players may freeze targets from afar with a fused arrow, but extra precision is needed to successfully freeze multiple targets at once. Instead, some players may choose tofarm Bomb Flowers inZelda: Tears of the Kingdomsince the explosion may quickly defeat crowds of enemies at once.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomis available now for Nintendo Switch.
