The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildhas been infused with a breath of fresh air thanks to its Master Trials DLC, an expansion that adds some significant content to the game while also providing amusing callbacks to previous titles. Fans of the series who wanted Link to channel his innerSkull Kid inBreath of the Wild, for instance, now have that option, while more competitive players have an outlet in the games' Trial of the Sword with which to measure each other’s skills and attempt to demonstrate their prowess.

As it turns out,The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildgot even more content than Nintendo advertised - although the most recently discovered addition likely wasn’t intentional. A Reddit user named Sharksytheshotty accidentally uncovered a hidden area during the Trial of the Swords event in the Master Trials DLC, clipping through the environment and uncovering a low-res location.

breath of the wild dlc hidden area

Players looking to uncover exactly what Sharksytheshotty did to find this area, shown above, have very little to go on, as the user only suggested that flying up near a chest on the floating platform in trial three of the Medium trials got them to the location. Unfortunately, the glitch cost the user their Trial run, meaning it likely won’t be used as a neat trick tobeat the Trial of the Sword in under an hour.

The existence of this hidden area inThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis a big deal, though, even if it doesn’t seem immediately useful. These kinds of clip-through glitches aren’t as present in modern games as they were only a decade ago, and they can be honed into extremely useful speedrunning tools once pro runners get their hands on them. Given thatBreath of the Wildalready has a decent speedrunning community andSummer Games Done Quick 2017has everyone interested again, it could be a matter of when, not if, the secret area inBreath of the Wild’s DLC paves the way for something even bigger.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wildis available now for Switch and Wii U.
