More and more rumors continue to swirl aboutXbox’s E3 2019 plans, with a new rumor claiming that Xbox will announce 3 new games. Details regarding those 3 new Xbox IP remain mysterious, however.
Xbox has plenty of blockbuster franchises to talk about in addition to new IP at E3 2019. Another rumor says that Xbox will be sharing a lot of information aboutHalo: Infiniteduring E3, including having the game playable. The rumor goes on to say that Xbox will clarify thatHalo: Infinitewill be positioned as a “next-gen” game.
That’s not to say thatHalo: Infinitewill be anext-gen Xbox consoleexclusive, however. Earlier rumors make clear that Xbox is prioritizing making first-party games play cross-generation and on PC as well. The idea behind brandingHalo: Infiniteas “next-gen” is likely just to convey the idea thatHalo: Infiniteis being developed with Microsoft’s next-gen hardware in mind.
In tandem with another rumor that Xbox will be talking about its next-gen console while not showing it,Halo: Infiniteis likely going to be positioned as an example of what next-generation console games will look like. Whether or not Xbox shows off more “next-gen” games during E3 isn’t clear, but it must be confident if it’s willing to putHalo: Infiniteout there as Xbox’s next-gen standard.
Whether it’s new IP or old classics likeHalo: InfiniteandGears of War 5, Xbox is going all in on E3 2019. Xbox boss Phil Spencer already confirmed that the Xbox team would be bringing 14 first-party games to show during the event. By all accounts, third-party game representation is supposed to be well-accounted for, too.
Now it appears that Xbox will also be sharing its vision for the next generation of consoles, expected to be released in 2020. It’s a lot to cover, but that’s probably why Xbox has scheduled two hours for its press conference.
