Lately, it has become clear that Stormis more than just an upper echelonX-Mencharacter, but one ofMarvel’s most powerhouse heroesacross the board…except now, life at the top is set to catch up with her,as author Murewa Ayodele promises a “crash out” is coming for the weather-controlling mutant.
In an interview with AIPT forX-Men Monday, Ayodele spoke about the upcoming “Thunder War” arc, and while he played the arc’s plot details close to the vest, he did tease emotional turmoil for his protagonist.
“The change her personality goes through in “Thunder War” is a massive spoiler,” Ayodele admitted, along with a few tantalizing hints at what’s ahead.

Storm#10 is set to “kick-start the terrifying THUNDER WAR,” per Marvel’s solicitation, which will play out over the subsequent several issues. The arc is set to featureStorm leading a faction of Marvel deities in opposition to “Hadad, the first storm god,“who is dead-set on destroying the universe.
However this plot plays out, it is confirmed to take a serious toll on Ororo Monroe. As author Murewa Ayodele said of the pain he’s about to inflict on the hero:
The change her personality goes through in “Thunder War” is a massive spoiler, so I might not be able to discuss it fully. But know these:
As you rightly suspected, this is going to be an emotional journey for Ororo, and it’s going to be on wide open display for gods, abstract entities, you, and me to bear witness.
In other words,Ayodele is tripling down on the devastating consequences of this arc for Storm, revealing that she’ll seriously lose her cool at least 3x times.
Though she has longheld top-levelX-Menhero status, latelyshe has gained wider recognition as an A-list hero in the Marvel Universe, full stop. In addition to joining the Avengers, Ayodele’sStormsolo series has pushed Ororo to spectacular new heights of power. Now, though, it will force her to face her greatest challenge ever.

Storm’s Status As An A-List Hero Will Be Tested
Murewa Ayodele also noted that readers will “see one of [Storm’s] core strengths exploited” in the “Thunder War” arc, suggesting that her ensuing personality change might find the character growing hardened, or colder. This speculation is coupled with the fact thatX-Men’supcoming dark future crossoverAge of Revelationshockingly thrusts Storm into a villainous role.
As she grows more powerful and more pivotal than ever, the weight of the Marvel Universe will be on Storm’s shoulders more than ever.
It’s clear how these stories might fit into the same thematic arc, even without overt connections. As she grows more powerful and more pivotal than ever, theweight of the Marvel Universe will be on Storm’s shouldersmore than ever. Though theX-Menhero will likely prove she can handle it,there will be some “crash outs” along the way.
