About a couple of months ago, Microsoft officially confirmed that the forthcoming open world shooterCrackdown 3would seeits release date change to February 2019, marking the third instance of the title receiving a major delay after its initial plans to launch back in 2017. While this definitely disappointed many fans of the franchise, the video game developer Sumo Digital’s Managing Director Paul Porter recently explained this was done in order to further refine to the title and make it even better.
WithCrackdown 3fans having experienced a lot of delays, Porter wanted to assuage fans' fears that the game would get pushed back yet again by saying that the extra time is being used “to polish a game that’s pretty much done” and make it “better and better”. This should definitely cause many players to breathe a sigh of relief, as some folks had been speculating that the title might even get another postponement.
The Sumo Digital Managing Director went on to state thatCrackdown 3’s quality is far superior to its predecessors, while also retaining all of the familiar and beloved features that fans adored about the original game. As Porter said, “My experience ofCrackdownis probably similar to a lot of other people’s. I played the first one to death – played it in co-op, collected all the orbs. After a couple of hours of playingCrackdown 2I wanted to throw my controller at the TV . . . That’s definitely not the route that’s been taken withCrackdown 3.”
Bearing all of this in mind, it will be interesting to see just how wellCrackdown 3fares at launch, especially when one considers how the frequent delays the game encountered since its announcement might have caused some to lose hope in its development. With any luck, Sumo Digital will release some more footage of the title in action soon to show how the most recent delay has assisted the studio in makingCrackdown 3look and play even better sinceits gameplay trailer at E3 2018.
Crackdown 3is currently scheduled to launch in February 2019 for PC and Xbox One.
