Throughout season 1 of Prime Video’s latest teen drama,Motorheads, Caitlyn Torres (Melissa Collazo) finds herself torn between rebuilding her father’s classic race car and making a choice in an impossible love triangle. On the one hand, there’s Curtis Young (Uriah Shelton), who shares Caitlyn’s love of engineering but whose homelife keeps the pair apart. On the other hand, there’s Kiara Gibbons (Johnna Dias-Watson), who’s attracted to Caitlyn but is caught up in a toxic relationship with a boy. Bythe end ofMotorheadsseason 1, it’s completely up in the air who Caitlyn will end up with.

In any potential second season forMotorheads, resolving Caitlyn’s complicated romantic life will almost certainly be a central conflict. Inall likelihood, the intense drama surrounding Caitlyn’s romantic life has helped to make the streaming show such an unexpected success. In the week since it was released,Motorheadscontinues to be very successful on Prime Video. Numbers like these make it more likely thatMotorheadswill see a second season; when and if that happens, I hope that Caitlyn manages to avoid getting into a relationship with either Kiara or Curtis.

Caitlyn Should Not Be With Curtis Or Kiara In Motorheads Season 2

They Have Chemistry, But It Would End In Tears For Everyone

InMotorheadsseason 1,Curtis and Caitlyn have had the closest thing to a real relationship. They hang out one-on-one in ways that could easily be considered dates, and, in the season finale, Caitlyn finally decides to pursue Curtis and kisses him. Unfortunately, right after that kiss, Curtis revealed that his father, the Ironwood sheriff, is the person who betrayed her father, Christian Maddox (Deacon Phillippe), forcing him to abandon the family.

Caitlyn leaves that interaction feeling betrayed, and like she cannot trust Curtis or his family. On top of that,Caitlyn startedMotorheadsby telling Curtis that she didn’t want a relationship with him. These are shaky foundations for a relationship, and it seems like both of them would be happier dealing with their own problems rather than jumping into a relationship.

And things aren’t much better with Caitlyn’s other love interest, Kiara. Kiara only comes out as queer near the end ofMotorheadsseason 1, leading her to break up with her boyfriend and casting her home life into turmoil. WhileCaitlyn and Kiara have some undeniable chemistry, they have barely interacted in season 1. There are a lot of wistful gazes and fun quips, but they haven’t spent much time alone.

To make matters worse, Kiara saw Caitlyn kissing Curtis, but she left before Caitlyn and Curtis ended things. Before getting into a new relationship, Kiara should take a moment to breathe, and Caitlyn should take a moment to deal with all the family problems that happened in the season 1 finale.

She Got It Right The First Time

In the pilot episode ofMotorheads,Caitlyn told Curtis that it was the wrong time for her to get into a new relationship, and she was absolutely right.By the end ofMotorheads, Caitlyn’s brother, Zac Torres (Michael Cimino), just got into a potentially deadly race that could very well have killed another major character. Her uncle, Logan Maddox (Ryan Phillippe), and Zac helped Curtis’s older brother commit the biggest robbery in Ironwood in years.

Motorheadshas yet to be renewed for season 2.

Even more dramatically, in the final shots ofMotorheadsseason 1, Caitlyn got a phone call from an unknown number that could very well be her long-lost father. It is undeniably true that the love triangle inMotorheadsmakes for good drama, but next season, I hope Caitlyn gets a little breathing room to figure out her family drama. In the end, Caitlyn, like most ofthe characters inMotorheads, is just a teenager. I hope she gets the chance to be a kid in whatever comes next forMotorheadson Prime Video.
