The Lincoln Lawyer Fans Should Watch Netflix’s Unbelievable

Netflix’s Unbelievable Has 8 Episodes, So It’s A Quick Watch

Fans ofThe Lincoln Lawyerwho are looking for shows to watch while waiting for season 4 should considerUnbelievable, a miniseries available on Netflix. The miniseries weaves two connected stories together, functioning partly as a drama and partly as a police procedural.

In Washington, a teen named Marie reports a rape to the police but is pressured into recanting, leading the police to charge her with making a false report. She faces the legal system and social fallout. In Colorado, two detectives investigate a spree of rapes with eerily similar details. It’s a hard miniseries to watch, but it’s really good.

If they existed in the same universe, I could 100% see Mickey Haller taking on Marie’s case for free.

BothThe Lincoln LawyerandUnbelievablehave a very grounded, realistic feel to them, and they build suspense as the story unfolds. Also, if they existed in the same universe, I could 100% see Mickey Haller taking on Marie’s case for free and fighting the unjust actions of the police department.

Because of Mickey’s own experiences, he has a soft spot for individuals that the justice system would dismiss because of factors like ethnicity and substance use disorder. Mickey helps Eddie and Izzy when they’re in tough spots. He also tries to make sure Glory Days is sober before testifying because he knows the legal system will dismiss her.

Unbelievableis based on the Marshall Project and ProPublica article “An Unbelievable Story of Rape” and the follow-up bookA False Report, both of which are by T. Christian Miller and Ken Armstrong.

Similarly,Unbelievabletackles similar injustices in the legal system. Marie gets coerced into recanting the story, even though she was telling the truth from the beginning. They then slap her with charges based on bad police work, and she can’t afford a defense attorney to defend her.

It may be a different facet of injustice, but it fits the bill all the same. Ultimately,The Lincoln Lawyerencourages empathy for “the little guy,” which will make viewers more receptive toUnbelievable.
