That’s the nature of seeing VR demos outside of VR

While watching Ubisoft and Oculus VR demonstrateEagle Flighton-stage at E3, I had to keep reminding myself that these games are usuallywaybetter than they look when someone else is playing.

The open-world flight game has players soaring around an overgrown Paris that’s also overrun with animals, which is probably a sensory overload in virtual reality and fairly thrilling. But what we saw here — a three-on-three capture-the-prey mode — did almost nothing for me. Players weaved in and out of tunnels, flew into gusts of wind to pick up speed, and shot at each other. It looked fine, but I’m much more interested in flying leisurely alone (there is single-player, thankfully).
