I’ve just discovered a secretStar Warsconnection betweenAhsoka’sShin Hati and a major Legends character. Debuting in the 2023Star Warsseries, Ivanna Sakhno’s Shin Hati was a “Dark Jedi” apprentice to Baylan Skoll. Set to appear inAhsokaseason 2, I’ve now developed a theory that Shin will be getting an even bigger role than she had in the first season.

Initially, Baylan Skoll and Shin Hati were both in the service of Morgan Elsbeth, helping her rescue the exiledGrand Admiral Thrawn from the extragalactic world of Peridea. Once they made it to the planet, Baylan was called by an unknown power, resulting in the Dark Jedi parting ways with Shin. However, a secret Legends connection I never noticed before makes me think Shin Hati’s will have a pivotal role inAhsokaseason 2.

Shin Hati’s Costume Has A Secret Legends Connection

It’s Very Similar To A New Republic Sith Lord

As a point of key similarity I’d never caught before, it seems as though Shin Hati’s unique Dark Jedi costume bears a resemblance to a major Legends villain. As pointed out by@ironcrakka on Twitter/X, Shin’s tunic looks a lot like the one worn by Legends' Jacen Solo. However, the artwork below from official Star Wars artist Chris Trevas specifically depicts Jacen at the funeral of Mara Jade Skywalker, shortly after becoming the secret Sith Lord Darth Caedus:

Not to be confused with the canon’s Jacen Syndulla, son of Hera Syndulla and Kanan Jarrus,Legends' Jacen Solo was the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa’s in the pre-Disney continuity, twin to his sister Jaina and older brother to Anakin Solo. Not unlike the Disney canon’s Kylo Ren,Jacen Solo was also an apprentice to Luke Skywalker, his uncle. However, he too turned to the dark side.

Darth Caedus' Story Feels Like Setup For A Very Sinister Story

It Could Easily Be Mirrored in Ahsoka Season 2

Keeping the events ofAhsokain mind, it’s quite possible that the similarities between Shin Hati and Darth Caedus' costumes may not be a mere coincidence. Instead, it could be a subtle bit of foreshadowing on the part of Lucasfilm’s Dave Filoni. After all, it’s been heavily theorized thatAhsokaseason 2 will incorporate a key threat from Legends, one Caedus was directly involved with.

One of the most notable Legends events involving Darth Caedus was his unintentional unleashing of Abeloth, a dark being of entropy seeking the end of the entire galaxy and the Force itself.Likewise, Abeloth’s origins are connected to the Mortis gods. Before she became twisted, Abeloth was once Mother to the Son and Daughter, aiding the Father in keeping his children in balance as anchorites of the Force’s dual aspects.

To that end, the mysterious Force calling out to Baylan Skoll inAhsokahas been theorized to be a canonical version of Abeloth. This is largely due to the first season’s finale, which saw Skoll standing on massive stone statues of the Mortis gods themselves. If so, I do think we could end up with Shin in a very similar position as Darth Caedus, one where she too inadvertently frees Abeloth by the end ofAhsokaseason 2.

Is Shin Set To Unleash Abeloth?

It Might Not Be Baylan Skoll…

Baylan Skoll voiced his desire inAhsoka’sfirst season to break the cycleof war and conflict between the light and dark.Even so, I have a hard time believing that Baylan would willingly free Abeloth and allow every living thing to be destroyed when and if he learns she’s the one calling out to him. That said, I do think it’s his apprentice might.

Due to her youth, recklessness, and greater desire for power, I have a much easier time seeing Shin Hati as the one who frees Abeloth. Having been abandoned by her master in the first season, perhaps a bitter Shin may be tempted to unleash Abeloth in the absence of his guidance. All things considered, it would certainly create a dynamic parallel between Shin and the similarly dressed Darth Caedus.
