InTribes of Midgard, players will have to face an onslaught of enemies, defending their base and collecting resources for their eventual showdown against a giant. It’s a daunting task. Games often end early, using one ofMidgard’s bifrosts. But it’s a task that’s made slightly easier if a player knows their enemies' weaknesses.

Like plenty of fantasy games,Tribes of Midgardhas an elemental damage system. The four elements are Fire, Ice, Lightning, and Dark.

Midgard’s elemental weaknesses are bidirectional: fire and ice are weak to each other, as are lighting and dark. Most enemies, including Midgard’s looming giants, have an elemental type and weakness. Attacking an enemy with the same type of element will not do much damage.

Players can perform elemental damage by either equipping certain weapons, but they should be wary that certain armors can give their character elemental weaknesses as well. Each ofTribes of Midgard’s classes has a skill tree, and along several of them are “embrace” blessings, which increase damage efficiency for a single element. It’s best players know what they’re facing ahead of time.

Enemies Without a Weakness

These are “normal” enemies or animals, and tend to be fodder.

Dark Enemies, Weak to Lightning

What to Prioritize

Currently, the category with the most enemies is the dark category, so lightning weapons seem to be the go-to choice. That being said, it should be noted thatTribes of Midgardis a service game. More enemies and balance changes in the future might make another element more valuable.

Even in its current state, a player shouldn’t invest too much into one element. They could get unlucky, and end up fighting a giant strong against their gear.Tribes of Midgardis best played in a group, and multiple players can cover multiple different elemental weaknesses. If playing solo, a player should try to keep at least two different elemental weapons in their inventory.

Tribes of Midgardis now available for PC, PS4, and PS5.
