Vance, Hannah Waddingham, and Tia Carrere, among others, as they try to take down Tom Cruise andMission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning. Stitch Has A Habit Of Crossing Over With Other Franchises
He Just Can’t Help Himself
Each variant involves a crossover poster from various Disney classics, includingSnow White,Cinderella,Aladdin, andBeauty & The Beast. This isn’t just a reference to the advertising campaign for the remake. Disney had a running gag in 2002 where Stitch invaded other Disney movies for promos. It was a campaign that includedMulan,Pinocchio, andThe Lion King,in addition to the others already mentioned. For some of its more absurd meta humor, Stitch has been the go-to for Disney, and that’s coming back to roost with this Topps crossover.
Stitch couldn’t be contained by just feature films, either. He’s crossed over with theKim Possible,American Dragon: Jake Long,Proud Family, andRecessTV shows. His legacy has extended far beyond just one movie, with multiple sequels and shows. He’s also prominently displayed in multiple Disney parks across the world.
Lilo & Stitchseems poised to make a dent at the box office immediately, offering the sole family-friendly new release for Memorial Day weekend. Given the recent performance of live-action remakes, Disney needs this win, andif the pre-sales are any indication, they just might get it. In the meantime, there’s a bunch of tie-ins to peruse.
