Skell is a name that may be familiar toTom Clancyfans. Skell Technology is a company referenced by name in bothTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: WildlandsandTom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege,and in late 2018,Tom Clancyfans discovered a Skell-related website with a “Civilian Drone Catalog” in-universe video hidden therein. The nature of that video has remained mysterious, but a new update to the Skell website may be leading fans to some answers and a new game announcement.
An updated page on the Skell Technology website now advertises an upcoming event: SkellCon. “Join us for SkellCon” reads the only message on the page, alongside a date of August 08, 2025 and a starting time of 11:30 PST. There’s clearly something planned to be revealed at this date and time, but one last detail provides a hint at what it might be. At the bottom of the teaser page, there’s an ESRB label for “Rating Pending.” Whatever the Skell website is teasing, it’s for a new game or piece of content that has yet to be ESRB approved.
Speculation about the Skell teaser is already going out of control.Watch DogsandAssassin’s Creedfans all want to believe it’s a teaser for a new game in their favorite franchise. But it’s important to recall that Skell is aTom Clancyrelated teaser, so the announcement should be a for aTom Clancygame.
Just whatTom Clancygame could be announced is up for debate. WhileSplinter Cellis probably the most exciting possibility, it’s much more likely to be a game or update related to one of Ubisoft’s online properties given the company’s current direction. Given Skell stems from bothGhost ReconandRainbow Six, those two seem the likeliest possibilities.
Fans ofTom Clancygames won’t have to wait long to find out what Ubisoft has planned. If the teaser website is correct, more information should be shared on May 9. It may be a full announcement of a new game or it may be just another teaser. Perhaps there will be an announcement on May 9 followed by a gameplay debut duringUbisoft’s E3 2019 press conference. It’s an exciting time of the year for video games and Ubisoft is already getting started.
