She’s Now Much More Than A Mere Cartel Doctor
While Jorge flies off with El Don to find extra manpower in his war against Heller, Thony sets her plans in motion. Thanks to evidence uncovered by Jorge while killing the district attorney,Thony now has evidence that could help the newly appointed DA, Joel Herman, take Heller down lawfully. But instead of giving it to Joel directly, she gives the evidence to Feng in return for becoming a full Sin Cara associate. Now that she’s risen above the ranks of cartel doctor, she can more easily monitor Feng and Heller on Joel’s behalf.
However, Thony’s choice to once again inform Sin Cara is only the beginning of her plan. Near the final moments ofThe Cleaning Ladyseason 4,Thony reveals her ultimate goal is to tear Sin Cara apart from the inside and take it for herself. Feng, Heller, Ramona, and Alejandra already pose significant threats to Thony, especially now that they’ve done away with the rule against hurting associates’ family members. Getting To This Point Earlier Might Have Saved The Show
There might be no shortage of excellent crime dramas out there, but there aren’t necessarily a ton ofshows likeThe Cleaning Ladyon network TV right now. Thony’s plan to turn on both Sin Cara and the DA for her benefit would have elevated the series’ tension.It doesn’t appear that either Joel or Jorge knows anything about Thony’s intentions for the cartel, which means they and El Don might have joined Thony’s roster of current adversaries.
By the end of season 5, Thony’s shifting alliances could have led to one of the series’ best outcomes.
Aside from Fiona, Benny, and Dupont, this would have left Thony with little in the way of allies. And none of those three are much use in a gun battle. Additionally,Thony’s takeover would have huge political implications for the Las Vegas criminal underground. Joel would especially have to decide whether to keep his temporary alliance with Thony for the sake of bringing down Heller, even if he begins to realize that he’s setting her up to take Sin Cara’s throne. Her Rise To Power Could Have Led To One Of Two Great Endings
Thony’s rise to power felt like a natural direction for the series to take since the beginning, butit took untilThe Cleaning Ladyseason 4 for her to even make the natural step to cartel doctor.Had the show not spun its wheels for so long before truly elevating Thony through the ranks, interest might have remained high enough for Fox to renew the series. Obviously, it’s now too late, and the worst part isThe Cleaning Ladyseason 5 could have led to one of the series’ two best possible endings.
Naturally, Thony taking over Sin Cara for good would have been a major ending point for the series. Much like Jorge, however, Thony’s been desperately trying to get out of the cartel and give Luca a normal life. If Thony had taken over the cartel and removed Heller as an obstacle to Jorge’s mining project,The Cleaning Ladycould have given them both a happy ending. She could give the cartel over to El Don or effectively dismantle Sin Cara entirely. Sadly, which of those endings the series would have chosen will have to remain a mystery.
