Obsidian Entertainment wowed almost everyone with an impressive showing at theXbox Games Showcase, showing off new content coming from the studio likeAvowed, Grounded, and of course a newThe Outer WorldsDLC adventure. Titled,Peril on Gorgon, the new DLC promises to deliver on the same thrilling adventures that the base game released with, and players can now know how long to expect for the new campaign to take to complete.
This new insight on the length ofPeril of Gorgoncomes from a Polygon interview withThe Outer WorldsGame Director Carrie Patel, who talked at length of what the new DLC will bring to the experience. Bringing new features and araising level cap toOuter Worlds, Patel promises that this first DLC pack will be a substantial addition to the already brimming base game.

When speaking on exactly how longPeril of Gorgonwill be, Patel claims that it should take about as long as the Monarch hub, which was the largest area in the base game and is the starting point of the new DLC. This means that players can expect to spend between 6 and 8 hours on the new adventure, although not all of that time will be spent at the new Gorgon location. Instead, this new space-faring quest will take players to areas from the base game, tying the new content back to the rest of the explorable space ofThe Outer Worlds.
Considering thatThe Outer Worlds’base game takes around 12 hours to beat, or up to 35 for players looking to explore everything the game has to offer,Peril of Gorgon’s 6-8 hours is a massive addition to the game. Similarly, from the way Patel mentions about the new story content coming to the new DLC, it seems as though this added campaign will haveThe Outer Worlds’award-winning writingin the expansive new adventure. As a result, fans already excited to see any more content coming to the game at all should be thrilled to know exactly how much Obsidian is really adding to the game.
There are plenty of DLC expansions that never seem to add enough content, which can be especially disappointing for players who are excited to jump back into their favorite games again. So, seeing that Obsidian is putting so much new content with new stories and sidequests forThe Outer Worlds, is a huge boon to the players who absolutely adored the game when it released last year.
The Outer Worldsis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
