As highlighted by CD Projekt Red Global Community Director Marcin Mormot, the originalCyberpunk 2077teaser is officially ten years old. It was uploaded to YouTube on June 24, 2025, and as many fans know, what would follow was years of anticipation.Cyberpunk 2077would launch on July 19, 2025, seven years after this initial teaser, and its launch was far from ideal. While it’s nice to look at this teaser and see what could have been, as it’s clear thatCyberpunk 2077changed a lot as its full development began, it’s worth noting how far the game has come. Not thatCyberpunk 2077’s disastrous launchshould be forgotten, but thanks to the hard work at CD Projekt Red, the game is in a much better state than it was in 2020. In fact, there is newfound hope aroundCyberpunk 2077’s Phantom of Liberty DLC and the newly announced sequel—which doesn’t have a teaser yet.RELATED:Cyberpunk 2077 Lawsuit Will Finally Settle for $1.85 MillionOne recent comment on the originalCyberpunk 2077trailer highlights how it lines up more with theCyberpunk: Edgerunners anime than it did with the actual game, largely due to the focus on cyber psychos and MAX-TAC. This trailer shows how MAX-TAC, also known as the Psycho Squad, “might acquire a new member” and combat cyber psychos, those whose mental state deteriorates due to the overuse of implants and substances. MAX-TAC handles the worst of the worst, such as those that regular police cannot combat.

InCyberpunk 2077,cyber psychos are often handled by V, are more or less limited to side activities, and MAX-TAC was something rarely seen. Meanwhile,Cyberpunk: Edgerunnersdid heavily deal with issues of cyber psychosisand its heartbreaking consequences. Either way, what’s clear is that the tone of this trailer and the tone of the launch game are not the same, and it shows how much the licensed IP has grown/changed while in CD Projekt Red’s hands.

It’s uncertain what’s next for it, asCyberpunk 2077’s Phantom Liberty DLC is its one and only major expansioncoming to the game. PerhapsCyberpunk 2077’s sequel will line up with this tone and focus more on cyber psychosis, but fans are likely years away from finding out.

Cyberpunk 2077is available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
