AfterThe Naked Gun, it’s even more clear that one actor needs to star in his own comedy movie. Without a doubt, the legacy sequel is one of the funniest movies of the year. Ever since its release on August 1,reviews forThe Naked Gunhave been amazing, withScreen Rant’s own Zach Moser giving it a score of 8 out of 10 stars.
The success of the sequel is a huge accomplishment, especially sincemost of the actors inThe Naked Gunaren’t known to be comedic performers. Liam Neeson and Pamela Anderson have barely done any comedies throughout their careers, but their exceptional performances lead to plenty ofhilarious moments inThe Naked Gun.
In addition to Neeson and Anderson, who lead the cast, there are also severalcameos inThe Naked Gun. In my opinion, Dave Bautista surprisingly appearing at the end of the movie makes for the best cameo in the entire movie. Even though he only has a small role,it further proves that Bautista needs his own comedy movie.
Dave Bautista Deserves His Own True Comedy After The Naked Gun
At theend ofThe Naked Gun, Frank Drebin Jr. and Richard Cane, the movie’s villain, have an argument in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. During this scene, in typical villain fashion, Cane is trying to explain why he believes his actions are justified. However, when the movie cuts away from him and to where Frank should be, Bautista is suddenly there instead.
Bautista seemingly plays himself and takes over for Frank during this argumentwhile the Police Squad detective takes a bathroom break. This shocking moment is hilarious, and gets even better when Frank steps out of the porta potty, allowing Bautista to apologize for messing up some of his lines.
With only mere moments onscreen, he leaves an impact on the film. This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as the wrestler-turned-actor has proven how funny he can be in several of his movies. Most notably, theGuardians of the Galaxytrilogy andGlass Onion: A Knives Out Mysteryhighlight Bautista’s comedic chops.
In addition to these films,The Naked Gunproves that Bautista deserves to star in a proper comedy. The closest he has come to this isMy Spyand its sequel,My Spy: The Eternal City. However, these movies are considered action comedies. In fact, most of Bautista’s comedic roles have included elements of action as well, likeStuber.
Therefore, it would be a fun changeif one of Bautista’s upcoming movies was a more traditional comedy film that didn’t include any action elements. This would allow the actor to properly showcase his comedic talents, which he briefly gets to do inThe Naked Gun, and could open up many doors for his career.
