As fans have been excitedly waiting for the release ofThe Last of Us: Part 2, frequent rumors have looked to detail exactly when the game’s release date will come. Recently, these rumors have suggested that theLast of Us 2release date is scheduled for the first half of 2020, and a new rumor looks to specify this date even further, while also offering information on the various editions of the game that will be available.
More specifically, a recentThe Last of Us 2leak indicates that the release of the game will occur in February 2020. Indeed, this is not the first time that there has been indication that theLast of Us 2release date is set for this timeframe, as Ashely Johnson, the voice actor behind Ellie, seemed to inadvertently hint at aLast of Us 2February releasein an interview, with Critical Roll, just a few weeks ago.
Additionally, this latest leak suggests that there will be fourThe Last of Us 2editions for players to choose from: a Standard Edition, a Special Edition, a Collector’s Edition, and an Ellie Edition. While no information about the contents of these editions is currently available, it seems likely that those that spring for something beyond the Standard Edition will have access to things like special cases and soundtracks, as is typical with the various editions for many games.
With respect to the origin of this newThe Last of Us 2rumor, it comes from a post on A9VG, a Chinese forum, which has since been translated by industry analyst Daniel Ahmad on ResetEra, another popular forum for video game discussion. Ahmad further indicates that the leaker accurately stated that theDeath Strandingrelease datewold come in November prior to the official announcement, lending some credence to their claims.
That said, this is certainly not definitive confirmation of aThe Last of Us 2release date, and the rumor should be approached with skepticism at this time. However, with February only seven months away, it may not be long before fans get final word, from both Sony and Naughty Dog, on if this leak is accurate.
