E3 2019is just over one week away, and this year’s expo is certain to give fans a closer look at a bevy of highly anticipated titles, such asBorderlands 3andCyberpunk 2077. However, E3 is not only about sharing more details on previously announced projects, and developers will undoubtedly use this year’s event as a platform to reveal entirely new games as well. While it is difficult to say exactly what these new games will be, some are now wondering ifThe Evil Within 3might be one of them.
The idea thatThe Evil Within 3could be announced at E3 2019 comes from a simple tweet made by Shinji Mikami, the director ofThe Evil Withinand the executive producer behind the game’s sequel. In this tweet, Mikami indicated that he would be making a business trip to E3 next week, and this statement immediately led fans to speculate about a possible reveal ofThe Evil Within 3at E3 2019.
While purely speculative, the announcement ofThe Evil Within 3is not completely outside of the realm of possibility. The Evil Within 2released in October 2017, and perhaps theEvil Within 3release date is planned for October 2019. However, the first two entries in the series launched almost exactly three years apart, which means that this release scenario would require a much tighter development timeline.
It is also possible that Mikami’s attendance at the expo could be connected to a rumored newDino Crisisgame, which a “leak” from a couple of weeks ago suggests could be announced at theMicrosoft E3 2019 press conference. Indeed, Mikami did act as director onDino Crisis, and then as executive producer on the following two entries in the series, and many fans would certainly be thrilled to return to the franchise on current generation hardware.
There is also the possibility that Mikami’s trip to E3 is related to a different franchise or an entirely new IP, and perhaps there will not be an announcement of a title from Tango Gameworks at all. However, the reveal ofThe Evil Within 3at theBethesda E3 2019 showcasewould definitely be met with a great deal of excitement.
