Without a doubt,Tom Clancy’s The Division 2is easily one ofthe most highly anticipated video games of 2019, with Ubisoft having declared not too long ago that the forthcoming action-RPG set a beta registrations record for the company. Now, the publisher and developer has decided to provide fans with a better idea of what the game’s Agents will be fighting for by releasing an official story trailer to set the stage.

The Division 2is going to take place in a post-pandemic Washington D.C. that has been ravaged by the effects of the Dollar Flu–that is, a strain of the smallpox virus with no functional vaccine or cure–leaving the nation’s capital on the brink of complete civil collapse. Much like in the original game, the sequel will feature several different enemy factions for players to eliminate, withThe Division 2’s story trailer describing these sects as “roving packs of hyenas”, “religious outcasts”, or “depraved fascists”.

As far asThe Division 2’s story length is concerned, Ubisoft has previously declared that the sequel’scampaign is longer than the first’s, which indicates the company is aware of players' concerns that the plot of the followup would be too shallow to sustain any kind of longevity with the endgame. And while the latest story trailer doesn’t really do too much to assuage these concerns, as it only seems to scratch the surface of what’s to come, it at least appears as if the development team is attempting to apply lessons learned from the first game toThe Division 2.

Taking everything here into account, whileThe Division 2fans will likely have to play the title once it releases to understand and appreciate its full story, Ubisoft has decided that anyone wanting a taste of the action before launch will be able to give the game a go in an upcomingprivate beta. The beta is set to start early next month, and those who pre-orderThe Division 2will be guaranteed access.

Tom Clancy’s The Division 2is scheduled to launch on Jul 02, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
