What Dexter: Resurrection’s Streaming Popularity Means For The Serial Killer Show
Dexter Is As Popular As Ever & Resurrection Could Easily Get A Second Season
The clearest takeaway fromDexter: Resurrectionreaching the heights of Paramount+’s streaming charts is that the franchise still has a lot of juice left in it. It’s been nearly 20 years since the originalDexterpremiered, butthe prequel seriesDexter: Original Sinand nowResurrectionare proof that fans can’t get enough of Dexter and his Dark Passenger.
That’s great news forDexteras a whole, but it’s also good news forResurrectionspecifically.Original Sinseason 2was already confirmed months ago, butthe fact thatResurrectionis also dominating streaming charts is a great sign that it could get a second season. Viewers clearly want more of Hall’s take on Dexter, and Paramount+ certainly wants another successful series that makes the Showtime tier of subscription more lucrative.
Our Take On Dexter: Resurrection’s Popularity
Resurrection Has Clearly Benefited From Returning To The Classic Dexter Formula & Its Popularity Is Well Earned
It’s honestly not surprising thatDexter: Resurrectionis doing so well on Paramount+’s streaming charts.Dexteris one of the best shows ever made, andResurrectionis already shaping up to be one of the best shows in theDexterfranchise. It has the huge advantage of being a return to form with the classicDexterformula, and the sequel series has a lot going for it.
Resurrectionalso has the added bonus of having the way paved for it.Original Sinalready did most of the heavy lifting to rehabilitateDexter’s image after the divisive ending ofNew Blood. It also premiered just half a year ago and was great in its own right, soResurrectionhad some built-in excitement surrounding it. I’d honestly be more surprised ifResurrectionhadn’t turned out popular.

I’m also pretty glad thatResurrectionis getting the attention it deserves. I’ve long been a fan ofDexter, and I’m really happy withResurrectionso far. It feels a lot more like the goofy, darkly comedic show I fell in love with thanNew Blooddid, and I’m glad the creators realized the value of that feel. With any luck, we’ll get several more seasons ofDexter: Resurrectionout of this news.
