There’s no doubt that many will see ZeRo’s Iron Man run inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimateas impressive, for it indicates the player’s prowess with the crossover fighting game’s entire roster of characters, be it Mario, Mega Man, orSonic the Hedgehog. However, the achievement isn’t without a little bit of controversy.

As it so happens, the Twitch streamer actually lost a Sudden Death match during hisSuper Smash Bros. UltimateIron Man run after matchmaking queued him into a round with a 3 minute-long, 2 stock battle as opposed to the standard competitive rules of a 7 minute-long, 3 stock fight. When time ran out, the stocks were even at 1-1, with ZeRo at a lower damage percentage, thus qualifying him for a win under official tournament rules. But since the game’sonline modejust takes stocks into account, the match went to Sudden Death, and he ultimately lost.

All things considered, it will be interesting to see if theSuper Smash Bros. Ultimatecommunity eventually decides to come to a general consensus and determine just how ZeRo’s Iron Man run in the game should be classified. Until then, Nintendo will likely continue to focus on the game itself by monitoring and implementing balance changes followingthe first patch it put out for the title.
