The newest teaser trailer forStranger Thingsseason 5 reveals amajor new development in Eleven’s powers, indicating she now has the ability to fly. Over the course of the series, we’ve seenEleven’s powers change and evolvequite substantially. Certain points of the story have established her as the strongest of Hawkins Lab’s kids, while other eras inStranger Thingssaw Eleven lose her powersentirely.
However, now that she’s spent nearly two years gearing up for Hawkins’ final battle against Vecna inStranger Thingsseason 5, it fits that she’d have developed some new abilities during that time. She’s already shown proficiency in telekinesis, telepathy, remote viewing in the Void, and even a form of resurrection abilities, andStranger Thingsseason 5’s trailernow adds in the shocking ability to fly.
Stranger Things Season 5 Trailer Confirms Eleven Can Fly
Eleven Leaps An Incredible Distance
A brief clip inStranger Thingsseason 5’s trailer shows Eleven seemingly running away from or chasing an unknown subject, requiring her to get on top of a bus out in a field. To accomplish that,we see Eleven leap a high and far distance to reach the roof of the bus, which is an ability we’ve never seen her use before.
Though she isn’t flying through the skies inStranger Thingsseason 5’s teaser, being able to jump that distance is a precursor to the full power of flight, with both tied to the same core ability. That’s a power unseen in the otherkids from Hawkins Labback inStranger Thingsseason 4’s flashbacks, highlighting how advanced Eleven’s powers have become since season 1.
Flying and conscious levitation also appear to be missing fromVecna’s list of powers, giving Eleven a greater edge over him in their upcoming battle. WhileVecna is able to levitate using the vines on his body, it seemingly wasn’t a gift he possessed back when he was Number One/Henry Creel. With this incredible new leaping/flying ability being unique to Eleven,Stranger Thingsseason 5 will hopefully answer how she developed it.
Eleven Has Only Been Able To Levitate In The Past
Eleven’s Power Of Levitation Was Involuntary
While Eleven’s supernatural leaping ability is new, this isn’t the first time she’s shown a power related to suspending herself in the air. Throughout the series, when under intense strain using her telekinetic powers, such as when she closed The Gate inStranger Thingsseason 2’s ending, Eleven has occasionally been able to briefly levitate.
It’s historically been more of a symptom of intensely using her psionic abilities than something she could control…
However, her power of self-levitation appeared to be involuntary, occurring while she was conjuring up all the telekinetic power in her body to move or block another force or subject. It’s historically been more of a symptom of intensely using her psionic abilities than something she could control, but that may change inStranger Thingsseason 5 alongside this new development in her powers.
Eleven’s New Power Makes Sense After Her Season 4 Story
Eleven’s Powers Evolved More Intensely In Season 4
The notion that Eleven would have developed powers duringStranger Thingsseason 5’s time jumpfits with the reveals after her experience at The Nina Project. Following the recovery of her powers and battle with Vecna inStranger Thingsseason 4’s ending,Eleven revealed a new ability related to resurrection – though not the full power to resurrect someone or something.
Stranger Thingsseason 5 volume 1 releases on November 26, followed by part 2 on December 25, and part 3 on Jul 15, 2025.
Finding her inStranger Things’ Void, Eleven helpedbring Max back to life after she briefly diedfrom Vecna’s curse. Sheused her psionic abilities to restart Max’s heart shortly after it stopped, though Max remained in a comatose state afterward. If Eleven could learn to channel her powers to resurrect her best friend, there’s a logical path for her to similarly channel them into a leaping/flying power.
