Summary

AStarfieldplayer has created a UI concept that would offer a huge improvement to looting. While theStarfieldlooting system shares some similarities with other Bethesda games, this one alteration from a fan could make a big difference.

Starfieldwas released on September 6 after a brief early access phase. WithStarfieldgarnering over one million players, some members of the community are finding gripes with the game. Among the issues that players have noticed areStarfieldNPCs with a staring problem, a glitch that turns a character into a monster, and an exploit that can create infinite credits. SomeStarfieldplayers have noticed that it’s unclear what all the loot is from the UI, and one fan has decided to share their own take on howStarfieldlooting should look.

Reddit user SaintlikeSAM recently shared a clip of theirStarfieldlooting concept. The video begins with the player approaching aStarfieldImmortal Pirate to prompt what appears to be a standard loot menu. Like inStarfield, this menu shows a Legendary Pirate Assault suit, a pistol, and some crafting materials, with the addition of small icons indicating which part of the inventory they’ll end up in. UnliketheStarfieldUI, a secondary screen is loaded as the player lingers on the spacesuit. This new screen shows a small icon of what the Pirate Assault Spacesuit would look like, a stat breakdown that compares it to a player’s current equipment, and its helpful effects.

Beyond telling a player what aesthetic and stats an item may offer, SaintlikeSAM’s UI change also shows how manyStarfieldcreditsit would be worth. The looting idea may have been inspired by games likeThe Division 2andGhost Recon: Breakpointwhich showcase items in more detail thanStarfield. Although the currentStarfieldloot menu shows item names, inexperienced players may not know what an item is based on its text. Once looted,Starfieldplayers can check their inventory to get any item information and what it looks like. SaintlikeSAM’s UI idea may allow players to loot defeatedStarfieldpirates more easily.

Though they’re enthusiastic about theirStarfieldlooting concept, SaintlikeSAM hasn’t stated whether they’re working on a mod or not. This looting method may feel more seamless to some gamers because it doesn’t interrupt gameplay like opening theStarfieldinventory does. While there aresomeStarfieldbugsthat Bethesda may fix with a future patch, it’s unlikely that the inventory system officially gets overhauled so much.

Starfieldis available now for PC and Xbox Series X/S.
