The game’s resurgence has led to yet anotherdemand thatBattlefront 3be developed, and fans have now organized a petition that’s gaining traction.

The petition began two weeks ago, but now seems to be gaining more widespread attention, likely becauseBattlefront 2continues to see more players returning to it. “It’s clear that the demand is sky-high,” reads the petition, later continuing, “[Battlefront 3] would not only cater to the passionate fanbase but also introduce new players to the enchanting battles set in a galaxy far, far away.”
Fans Want A Third Battlefront Game After Star Wars Day & Andor Season 2
I’ve Seen This One Before
This year’s Star Wars Day, which occurred in the middle ofAndor’s second season, hasrejuvenated the franchise’s gaming scene, with players flocking back to DICE’sBattlefront 2. DICE’s reboot series began in 2015, a triumphant return of the beloved franchise which saw its original two entries released in 2004 and 2005. A thirdBattlefrontfrom original developer Pandemic Studios was canceled around 2008, and the reboot duology has found a similar fate, withEA declining DICE’sBattlefront 3pitchin 2021, reportedly due to the cost of licensing.
Both the original and reboot games are now steeped in nostalgia, and the petition touches on that thoroughly: “For many Star Wars fans across the globe, the gaming universe of Star Wars Battlefront has always been a thrilling and immersive experience.“Star Warshas long had an exceptionally passionate fanbase, which now wants a thirdBattlefrontto “honor and celebrate the legacy of the Star Wars universe,“believing that “EA Games and Disney, two powerhouses in entertainment, can deliver an unforgettable and innovative gaming experience for everyone.”
Star Wars Battlefront 3 Is Unlikely, According To A Former DICE Developer
Don’t Get Your Hopes Up
Sadly, the wish forBattlefront 3is likely in vain. According toIGN, a former DICE developer has popped up online to explain why it’s very unlikely thatBattlefront 3is in development, nor will be. Mats Holm was a producer on the live-service portion of the 2017Battlefront 2, and said, “I don’t expect Battlefront 3 to be announced at the end of this rally,” referring to the game’s renewed interest. The main issue, in his eyes, is thatmost of the originalBF2team had left DICE.
Many of those who made the base game moved on to Embark Studios, which is responsible for the recentlytech-testedARC Raidersand 2023’sThe Finals. Others who worked onBattlefront 2are spread all over: “A few went to Ubisoft, some went independent, some to King, Avalanche, Star Stables, Paradox, Starbreeze, Mojang to name a few,” Holm said. This doesn’t entirely disqualify a thirdBattlefrontbeing developed – it would largely fall on EA and Disney to decide – but without many of theStar Wars Battlefront 2devs left working at DICE, it would be significant and costly undertaking.
