Nearly 50 years after the character was first introduced,Ahsokaseason 2 may finally showAnakin Skywalkerat his full potential, based on some surprising new updates.Hayden Christensen is returning inAhsokaseason 2, but thedetails aboutAhsokaseason 2have been concealed enough that the extent of his role was unclear.

TheAhsokaendingset Anakin up as potentially very important, as he appeared in the final moments of the show as a Force Ghost. Given what we know aboutForce Ghosts inStar Wars, this opens up myriad story possibilities. Now,a new update on Christensen’s role inAhsokareveals that we may indeed see Anakin at full power.

Hayden Christensen Is Playing A Bigger Role In Ahsoka Than We Thought

Christensen’s Filming Schedule Is Very Telling

While it’s long been known thatAhsokaseason 2 is currently filming, it was recently revealed thatHayden Christensen will be filming until October. Given filming forAhsokaseason 2 has been underway throughout the summer, this suggests that Christensen’s role will be quite extensive, as it is seemingly demanding months of his time.

That information of course doesn’t reveal story details, but it does hint that we may be seeing even more of Christensen’s Anakin Skywalker than we did in season 1. In the first season of the show, Christensen’s most significant appearance happened inthe World Between Worlds, in which he and his former Padawan, Ahsoka Tano, reconnected.

This event took up nearly an entire episode, which made it a much bigger role than his brief cameo as a Force Ghost on Peridea in the finale. This certainly suggests that Hayden Christensen’s role as Anakin inAhsokaseason 2 will be even more significant, and that has very exciting implications for the narrative arc of this upcoming season.

Anakin Skywalker Never Fulfilled His Potential - Is This About To Change?

Star Wars Has Even Confirmed That Anakin Never Became All That He Could Have Been

At present, we know very little aboutAhsokaseason 2, although season 1 set up two distinct arcs: Sabine Wren, Ahsoka Tano, Baylan Skoll, and Shin Hati being trapped on Peridea together (with Baylan apparently on a quest to findthe Mortis Gods) and Ezra Bridger and Thrawn returning to the mainStar Warsgalaxy.

There’s some speculation that Thrawn’s return will actually be featured in the upcomingThe Mandalorian and Grogumovie, although that remains to be seen. Either way, as the titular lead, it’s most likely that Ahsoka’s time on Peridea will be a major focus of season 2.

This has direct implications for Anakin’s character, as we know he was on the planet watching over Ahsoka and presumably intends to reconnect with her once more. Given that, this may be the perfect opportunity forStar Warsto showcase Anakin at his full potential.

We already know thatAnakin did not become the greatest Jedi, asStar Wars’official description of Anakin describes him not as achieving that title but rather as once having that potential. Moreover,Christensen’s Jedi Master comments, in which he described Anakin as now being an “all-knowing, all-powerful Jedi master,“suggest we could see a brand-new version of Anakin.

Taken together, these details have me more than a little convinced that we may finally be seeing Anakin at his full power and reaching his full potential—and I even have a theory about how that might play right into the story inAhsokaseason 2.

Ahsoka Season 2 May Finally Explain What The Chosen One Really Means

We Could See A Completely New Take On Balance In The Force

As mentioned,Ahsokaseason 1 revealed that Baylan Skoll is hunting for information about the Mortis Gods, if not the Mortis Gods themselves. This trio of Gods—the Father, the Son, and the Daughter—was introduced inStar Wars: The Clone Wars, and they represented a fascinating new understanding of the Force inStar Warsmovies and TV shows.

Namely, these gods effectively embodied the Force, with the Son representing the dark side, the Daughter representing the light, and the Father being balance in the Force itself. Sadly, all three gods had died by the end of this arc, leaving some major questions about what that meant for the Force. Yet, that may be precisely how Anakin fits in.

The Chosen One prophecybecame a major part of Anakin’s story in the prequel trilogy, and it stated that this prophesied being would bring balance to the Force. While Anakin did that in a sense inReturn of the Jedi,if Anakin became the Father in a new trio of the Mortis Gods, this prophecy would have significantly greater meaning.

The trio could be Anakin as the Father, Ahsoka as the Daughter, and Baylan as the Son, which would make sense given the Daughter gave her life for Ahsoka, even transferring some of her life force into Ahsoka to resurrect her. Were this the case, it would absolutely mean Anakin reaching his full potential and fulfilling the prophecy.

The trio could be Anakin as the Father, Ahsoka as the Daughter, and Baylan as the Son.

At present, this remains speculative. There is so much about this upcoming season ofAhsokathat we just don’t know. However, this recent update on Hayden Christensen’s filming schedule has me more convinced than ever that we will see Anakin Skywalker reach his maximum power level and full potential inAhsokaseason 2.
