The Halloween season is in full swing, and gamers have a list of options to celebrate the spookiest time of the year. WithOverwatch,Fortnite, andPokemon Gosetting up special events this October, online competitive gaming has never been more festive. Not to be outdone,Splatoon 2is joining the fray with its very own Halloween-themed event, Nintendo announced today.
Splatoon 2holds a different Splatfest event every month, but the aptly-titled Splatoween event brings a lot more to the table than a typical Splatfest. First and foremost, the event will run double the length of time of the usual 24-hour Splatfest, instead giving players the chance to participate for a full 48 hours. The Splatoween event will run from 3 PM Pacific Time on Friday, October 19 all the way until the same time on Sunday, October 21.
Like past Splatfest events, participants will choose a team and battle it out with opposing players in Turf Wars. This Halloween season, the two teams are Team Trick and Team Treat. The lobby and stages will be dressed for the season, with Halloween decorations and themed graffiti abound.
In the spirit of Halloween, Nintendo’s Splatfest event for October 2018 will introduce four new headgear; Kyonshi Hat, Li’l Devil Horns, Anglerfish Mask, and the Jason Voorhees-inspired Hockey Mask.
Nintendo is also being generous by letting players hold on to their team’s special-event t-shirts as souvenirs, even after the Splatoween event has ended.
For those fortunate enough to get their hands on an event shirt or Halloween headgear, be sure to hold onto any precious loot tightly. Nintendo recently confirmed thatSplatoon 2would be among the short list of games thatwould not support backup saves to the cloud.
