Spellbreakis a recently-launched battle royale game that’s growing increasingly popular due to word of mouth. Developer Proletariat knows it has to build offSpellbreak’s initial success with launch now behind it, and as such, Saturday Proletariat hosted a livestream as part of the PAX Online digital convention. During the stream, Proletariat confirmed several upcoming features forSpellbreak, including some major map changes and also a 9v9 mode.
In a short trailer, Proletariat reconfirmed first that Duos will be coming toSpellbreak, something players expect to arrive as soon as next week. Next, it teased some major upcoming content releases. Newbattle royalemap updates are in the works, with the first being a foggy region featuring a giant (and appropriately dilapidated) wall.Spellbreakwill also be getting its next featured mode in Clash Mode — a 9v9 team battle. Most exciting to someSpellbreakplayers, a range of new outfits will also be coming to the game soon.

For the time being, Proletariat hasn’t put a schedule out for these content updates, though they’ll all likely arrive in the relatively near future. But Proletariat couldn’t help but tease something coming further down the road. As part of its Q&A, Proletariat answered a question about future modes that could be added to the game, and now confirmed to be in the studio’s plans is some kind of PvE. Nothing more was said about the potentialPvE mode, but it’s there for fans to consider.
Clearly,Spellbreakhas big changes in the future ahead of it and Proletariat has all manner of updates and content it can produce going forward. One surprising detail left unmentioned was a battle pass or any sort ofnew monetized meta progression system. Of course, there’s plenty of time for that down the road, as Proletariat is just getting started.
Spellbreakis available now on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
