The upcoming all- female fighting game for Nintendo Switch andPlayStation 4, which was developed and published in Japan,SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy, has revealed its latest addition to the fighter roster. The latest combatant forSNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzyhas a very familiar name: Terry Bogard. As the title of the game suggests, there are no male fighters in this game, so Terry Bogard is not the brawny male fighter we all know from older fighting games, but a sporty blonde girl in a pink hat.
While the gender of Terry Bogard inSNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzyis different, this Terry Bogard is still the same character from the other fighting games,Fatal FuryandThe King of Fighters. As is seen in the introduction of the gameplay trailer, however, the text on Terry Bogard’s hat has been changed from “Fatal Fury” to “Fatal Cutie,” and instead of wearing Bogard’s iconic red hat, this Terry Bogard’s hat is pink. The trailer announcing her appearance below displays her fighting style, which is similar to Terry Bogart’s style in other games, shows off three of the character’s costumes, and contains some commentary from other characters.
As is indicated in the trailer, Terry Bogard inSNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzycan choose from a female version of the original male character’s red jacket, jeans, white shirt, and red hat, a blue cheerleader outfit with pom-poms, or a red steampunk outfit. The trailer also shows a glimpse of the character’s special ability, which seems to be some sort of a power-up punch. Finally, the trailer shows a collage of all the fourteen confirmed fighters for the game so far.
This game certainly puts a new twist on many characters from fighting games that we have known and grown to love over many decades.SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzyalso looks promising in terms of its gameplay and graphics, and it will hopefully allow us to experience thenostalgia of early arcade gamesin a refreshing way.
SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzywill be available for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 on September 7.
