The Sims 4has received plenty of updates over the years, but more than a decade after its release, some basic things still need fixes. While no game will ever be perfect, small, common issues that irritate players on a daily basis can be especially frustrating. One such problem has to do with tile matching, and it doesn’t seem like it would be particularly hard to address.

Reddit userIzzy_thewiZzshared “one of [their] biggest sims pet peeves” with a screenshot of outdoor tiles being mismatched with the permanent sidewalk tiles. WhileThe Sims 4has plenty of tile options, actuallymatching tiles to pre-existing tiles on lots can often be impossible. In Izzy_thewiZz’s example, both the available colors and the alignment don’t quite line up with the lot.

Home Lots With Sidewalks Can Never Look Right

Izzy_thewiZz’s post has spawned plenty of comments sharing other frustrations with the issue.Schmoergelvinpointed out thatthe tiles clearly exist inThe Sims 4game files, writing “YOU HAVE THE TEXTURE ALREADY INGAME, JUST GIVE THEM TO ME”.Onthelanaiexpressed their annoyance, writing, “the fact that the entire neighborhood is paved with a flooring that they didn’t give to the player to match when building sent me into the stratosphere”.

BaconVonMoosesaw some humor in the situation, calling out some typos in the original post as a byproduct of Izzy_thewiZz’s righteous anger before agreeing that “it’s super infuriating.” Updating and modifying little irritations like mismatching sidewalk tilescould go a long way in keeping a community happy, especially one as detail-oriented as builders. Players who spend hours crafting the perfect cozy cottage, down to each individual tree and flower, are sure to notice when their game has missed a small detail.

A Community Like This Notices Every Small Detail

The Simsis a series that, more than anything, focuses on the details. The small parts of life that make the whole, like managing a Sim’s health, hunger, hygiene, and relationships.Little details absolutely matter when playingThe Sims 4, which is why small irritations like tiles not matching on most build lots can be incredibly frustrating.

For a game that’s over a decade old with more expansions and stuff packs than one can remember,it’s odd that common community complaints like these haven’t been addressed.Updating details like this, or even just allowing players to use the same tile texture in the base game, would go a long way in improving the average player’s experience inThe Sims 4.
