WithAhsokaseason 2 on its way, the show has the best chance to show the truth behind one ofStar Wars’ coolestForce vergences.Ahsokaseason 1 was great forStar Warsfans who have loved Ahsoka Tano for years, while also bringing it into conversation with beloved characters fromStar Wars Rebels.
While the character overlap betweenRebelsandAhsokais obvious,Ahsokaalso brought back one key Force vergence in the World Between Worlds. First shown inRebelsseason 4, episode 13, “A World Between Worlds,”the World Between Worldsis a mysterious realm that can show Force users events of the past and present.
When shown inRebels, it wasJedi Ezra Bridgerwho entered the realm, but inAhsoka, it was Ahsoka Tano who entered the realm after being beaten in combat by Baylan Skoll. Ahsoka’s journey in the World Between Worlds helped her find peace with her past and helped her embrace her role asAhsoka the White.
However, the possibilities for the World Between Worlds are endless forAhsokaseason 2, andStar Warsneeds to take advantage of that.
The World Between Worlds Was Supposed To Be Experienced Differently by Everyone
At Least According to One Rebels Creator
Back in 2018,Rebelswriter Henry Gilroy revealed atDragonConthat when Dave Filoni developed the plan for the World Between Worlds,the realm was meant to present itself differently to everyone who entered.This would create a brand new experience for each and every person who entered the realm.
When Ezra Bridger entered the World Between Worlds inRebelsseason 4,he experienced it as a series of bridges where he could hear events of the past and the future. While many of these voices weren’t known to Ezra,Star Warsfans could hear the familiar voices of sequel-era characters like Rey Skywalker and Maz Kanata.
It seems that from the two times the World Between Worlds has appeared onscreen,the visuals of entering the realm are extremely similar,as both Ezra and Ahsoka seemed to be standing on opaque bridges against what looks like a sky full of stars behind them.
So, when Henry Gilroy says that the realm is meant to be experienced differently by everyone, we can only assume he means that it appears the same to everyone, but the realm will provide the person with what they need the most.
Ezra Bridger’s and Ahsoka Tano’s Experiences Were Very Different
Which Supports What Gilroy Said
While in the World Between Worlds, Ezra Bridger was able to see into past events by looking through quasi-windows, which is how he was able to save Ahsoka Tano from a blow by Darth Vader’s lightsaber.It was clear that Ezra needed to see the two people who shaped his journey as a Jedi the most.
By saving Ahsoka and pulling her into the World Between Worlds, it allowed her to help Ezra let his recently deceased master, Kanan Jarrus, go and not interfere with his death. Ezra needed Ahsoka to help him make that tough call, but he also needed to come to terms with losing Kanan and not being able to save him.
However, Ahsoka Tano’s experience in the World Between Worlds was very different. InAhsoka, the title character didn’t have to seek out a mentor, butinstead Anakin Skywalker appeared to her as soon as she arrived in the realm.Additionally, Ahsoka didn’t see through the windows into her past, but instead actuallyembodiedher younger body to relive some of her memories.
Despite these very different experiences, it’s clear thatboth Ezra and Ahsoka needed the World Between Worlds to help them come to terms with parts of their past.They needed to learn a lesson, and to do that, they had to be confronted by it.
Could We See Someone Else Enter The World Between Worlds in Ahsoka Season 2?
There’s A Lot of Characters To Consider
WithAhsokaseason 2 now in production, the sky’s the limit when it comes to what characters could stand to learn a lesson from the World Between Worlds. In particular, we may see Force users like Sabine Wren,Baylan Skoll, or Shin Hati would be good characters to bring into the World Between Worlds.All of these characters have had their issues inAhsokaseason 1, and seeing them confront parts of their past would be interesting.
Ahsokaseason 2 was confirmed to have began production right afterStar WarsCelebration 2025 in Japan.
It’s clear that Sabine Wren has made strides when it comes to forgiving Ahsoka and moving on from the deaths of her family, but the Mandalorian has been through a lot, even from when she was inRebels, and being stranded in a different galaxy may not bode well for her future.
Additionally, we saw Shin Hati having to learn how to survive without her master, Baylan Skoll. Both of these characters seem to be avoiding an alignment with either the dark or the light side of the Force, andentering the World Between Worlds may help push them toward one side or the other.But no matter who it is, it’d be interesting to see how they experience the World Between Worlds.
WithAhsokaseason 2 on the way, there’s no telling how or if Dave Filoni will incorporate the World Between Worlds. With characters in two separate galaxies, it may even be a way to have characters communicate, or possibly even travel. There’s still so much we don’t understand about the World Between Worlds, butAhsokaseason 2 has the potential to change all of that.
