While it looks as if Square Enix’s long-running RPG series already hasa new game on the horizon, existing titles such asMobius Final Fantasycontinue to receive fresh content and updates to keep fans engaged with the franchise. As a matter of fact, a new update has gone live in the aforementioned game, with its major highlight being the addition of Sephiroth, the legendary villain of the series' seventh installment.
As seen below in the trailer forMobius Final Fantasy, Sephiroth is being incorporated into the title by way of the event known as Fatal Calling, and Square Enix has confirmed that theFF7villain and its protagonist, Cloud Strife, will appear together in a completely original story. Sephiroth will be available until June 26, 2025 as an Ultimate Hero through the Fatal Calling event, which means that players can summon him into the fight and be transformed into him.
For those unaware ofMobius Final Fantasy, the game is free-to-play on iOS and Android, and it delivers on the franchise’s classic RPG battling system with cards that allow players to upgrade characters as they progress throughout the story. This isn’t the first instance ofMobius Final Fantasycrossing over with other games from the series, though, as Sephiroth has even been previously featured alongsidea story centering around Cloud.
All things considered,Mobius Final Fantasy’s inclusion of one of the series' most iconic characters with Sephiroth will likely cause many to check out the title if only to see how the new story featuring the One-Winged Angel will shake out. While it’s not the best stopgap to receive in the recent drought of news regarding the forthcomingFF7remake, it should serve as an interesting diversion until more information about the remake is revealed.
Mobius Final Fantasyis available for PC, as well as Android and iOS devices.
