Despite the fact that From Software’s latest release is generally considered to be a notoriously difficult experience,Sekiro: Shadows Die Twiceis one of the best selling games of 2019so far, with plenty of players flocking to the title to challenge themselves. While the action-adventure game can already be tough enough to complete on its own, one intrepid player has decided to up the ante by beating the game by only using the DK Bongos fromDonkey Kong Jungle Beat.
The triumphant victor of this challenge is the YouTuber known as ATwerkingYoshi, with theSekiro: Shadows Die Twiceplayer beating the From Software game’s final boss using two sets of DK Bongos as his controller. According to ATwerkingYoshi, his DK Bongo run through the game wound up taking 10 hours, and he went through a total of 130 deaths in the process, with 31 of those deaths being at the hands ofSekiro’s final boss Isshin, the Sword Saint.
As manySekiro: Shadows Die Twicefans will likely agree, ATwerkingYoshi’s accomplishment is definitely remarkable, especially when one considers the fact that he apparently had to sacrifice camera controls just to have the DK Bongos fit the control scheme for combat. Of course, it’s also worth noting that the YouTuber has experience using the peripherals as unconventional controllers for other From Software games, as ATwerkingYoshi alsobeatDark Souls 3using DK Bongos.
Ever since its release earlier this year, plenty of players like ATwerkingYoshi have been taking onSekiro: Shadows Die Twicewith a variety of different self-imposed limitations in order to make the title even more challenging. For instance, the streamer Faraaz Khan not only managed to beat the game without dying, but alsobeatSekiroin a no damage run.
All things considered, it will be interesting to see if ATwerkingYoshi decides to revisitSekiro: Shadows Die Twiceusing another unorthodox controller to beat the game. The YouTuber has said that he viewsSekiroas just a “really hard rhythm game”, so perhaps he will utilize aDance Dance Revolutiongame pad orGuitar Herocontroller to try and beat it in the future.
