WhileBorderlands 3has yet to be officially announced by Gearbox Software, a slew of information on the rumored game leaked earlier this month thanks to YouTube channel The Know. TheBorderlands 3leaked information revealed details about character classes, when the game may finally be announced, and it also offered fans some of the first details on what the story will entail. Please note that this article will havespoilersforBorderlands 2.
Assuming The Know’s source is correct,Borderlands 3will once again see a group of four characters head out in search of a Vault. But whereas the first twoBorderlandsgames mainly focused on finding one big Vault,Borderlands 3will see players find and explore multiple Vaults. This makes sense considering the ending ofBorderlands 2, which saw the characters discover a map leading to many more Vaults dotted around the galaxy.
Instead of using the same characters fromBorderlands 2, though,Borderlands 3players will be hunting these Vaults as four new Vault Hunters. The Know also leaked information about the four playable classes, revealing thatthe Soldier uses aTitanfall-style mech, the Siren will be melee-focused this time around, the Assassin class is returning, and the Beast Master class will debut with three pets for players to choose from.
While it may be easy for fans to get excited about this potentially leaked information, it should all be taken with a grain of salt. After all, The Know’s video suggestedBorderlands 3could be teased at The Game Awards 2018, but the show came and went without a single mention of the supposed game. Having said that, there has been at least some evidence that seems to corroborate information provided by The Know’s source.
After details on the four character classes inBorderlands 3leaked, someconcept art of the four charactersleaked not long afterwards. The character art appeared to confirm some details mentioned in the video, particularly the Soldier’s ability to summon aTitanfall-style mech. Of course, it’s possible that this “leaked” character art is a fabrication, but fans won’t know for sure until Gearbox Software is ready to pull the curtain back on the game in an official capacity.
