With 2018 quickly coming to a close, the wait won’t be too much longer for Capcom’s forthcomingResident Evil 2remake, with the game set to release in January of next year. The publisher and developer has recently been providing fans with a steady stream of gameplay videos that feature Ada Wong in action,Claire fighting Tyrant, and more. Now, the studio has decided to dish out some bite-sized nuggets of gameplay by releasing five new clips of footage.
As seen in the handful of gameplay clips below, those looking forward to theResident Evil 2remake can catch glimpses of the aforementioned Ms. Wong in an incognito getup, Leon stepping up to a typewriter to presumably save a game, and the RCPD rookie confronting a zombie. What’s more is that the last two gameplay segments touch on the remake’s take on classicRE2moments in which Leon encounters a Doberman Pinscher infected with the T-Virus for the first time, and his visit to the Gun Shop.
Since the above clips for theResident Evil 2remake don’t do too much to fully sate the appetite of those who are hungry for a feast of footage, as previously mentioned, Capcom has already put out a decent portion of videos that show off some of the content to come. One of the more satisfying offerings comes from the publisher and developer demoing the game to show off roughly16 minutes of gameplayfeaturing Leon exploring the police station.
All things considered, theResident Evil 2remake definitely appears to be shaping up into something special, as Capcom has already explained that it doesn’t see it as a remake at all, with the studio viewing it as “a new game built on top of the [original’s] foundation”. Plus, with the current-genRE2having wonBest of Show at E3 2018–an accomplishment previously achieved by Nintendo’sThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild–fans should rest easy that Capcom will do right by the 1998 version of the title.
Resident Evil 2releases on August 16, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
