Warning: SPOILERS ahead for Resident Alien season 4, episode 2!Resident Alienseason 4 has all but confirmed when Harry’s alien powers are going to return after the show revealed how he really lost them. DuringResident Alienseason 4, episode 2, Harry travels to Las Vegas with Asta to try and find out what happened to Bruce, a Grey who helped him, Bridget, and Robert escape the Moon. This is because, as revealed in the season premiere,Harry has somehow lost his alien powers. This makes it impossible for him to properly fight the Mantid, who has taken his identity in town while he’s been imprisoned for a month.

The Mantid is also killing people in town, eating their heads. Since othercharacters inResident Alienaren’t aware of this, aside from those who know Harry is an alien, he needs to get his powers back as soon as possible. This is why, when he and Asta discoverBruce is on the verge of deathbecause Greys can’t survive on Earth for long without melting, it becomes a race against time. Getting the Grey to a hotel room,Harry learns about what happened to his alien powers, indicating when he’s going to get them back.

Bruce dying in Resident Alien

Harry Discovered The Greys Have His Alien Powers

How The Greys Made Harry Human

As Bruce is dying, he tells Harry how he ended up becoming human. Because of the way Harry’s people work, the Greys were able to separate the alien parts of him from the human partsthat had developed as a result of his time spent on Earth. His powers are still on their base following theend ofResident Alienseason 3. This means the Greys did not place an inhibitor chip inside of him that can be removed; instead, the only way Harry can get his powers to return is if he finds a way back onto the Moon.

Bruce’s confirmation lays the groundwork forResident Alienseason 4’s episodes, as Harry and Asta now know what they must do to get his powers back. Unfortunately, having just recently escaped from the Moon, it doesn’t sound like he’ll be getting his powers back anytime soon. Giventhe difficulty he’d have getting back there, especially with the Greys probably not keen on taking him as a prisoner again, the show has established just how long it will be before his alien powers return.

Harry Probably Isn’t Becoming An Alien Until The End Of Season 4

Getting His Powers Back Has Become Established As His Seasonal Arc

Because Bruce’s revelation about Harry’s powers would require him to go back to the Moon, it seems likehe probably won’t be getting his powers back until the end of season 4.So far, the first two episodes have laid the groundwork for long-standing storylines that only work if Harry doesn’t have his powers. This includes him adjusting to being human, as well as Mike and Liv investigating the Mantid killing people in Patience. These elements necessitate Harry not having his powers, meaning the rest of season 4 will probably focus on him trying to get them back.

[I]t’s inevitable that Harry’s alien powers inResident Alienwill return, even if it doesn’t happen until the season finale.

This reveal also coincides with news thatseason 4’s budget is significantly reduced compared to previous seasons. This was part of the show’s deal to be renewed, as well as the reason why it’s airing on both Syfy and USA on Friday nights. With the budget reduced, it also means the show will benefit from showing Harry’s alien form less often, offering a behind-the-scenes explanation for the story direction. However, it’s inevitable thatHarry’s alien powers inResident Alienwill return, even if it doesn’t happen until the season finale.

With the revelation that the Greys have his powers, it seems likeHarry will be spending much ofResident Alienseason 4 fighting to get them back. How the show builds up to this remains to be seen, especially when he’s still dealing with the Mantid in Patience. How he approaches the many problems on his plate is unclear, but his new human form means it won’t be easy to get his alien powers back.

New episodes ofResident Alienseason 4 air Fridays at 11 p.m. ET on Syfy and USA.
