There have been some heavy rumors circulating that Rockstar’s open-world Wild West title,Red Dead Redemption 2, would be released ontwo separate discs, which wouldn’t be surprising given that the developers did the same thing with the gargantuanGrand Theft Auto Vin 2013. Now, we have official confirmation that the retail package will include two discs, courtesy of new images from retailers and various other sources.

But players worried about having to switch over to a second disc midway through their playtime can rest easy. One of the two discs is labeled as a “data disc,” which will be used to simply installRed Dead Redemption 2onto the console. The other disc is what players will be using to play the game itself.

A YouTuber by the name of KOFI uploaded some photos of the discs and box to Twitter. He also confirmed that physical copies of the title came with a copy of the game’s map but he didn’t share any pictures of it so as not to spoil it or break an embargo, even in spite of the map beingleaked onlinevery recently.

RDR 2needing two discs, in retrospect, isn’t that surprising considering how big Rockstar has stated the game to be. The physical edition on PS4 is a whopping 99GB whereas the Xbox One version is 107GB, both of which are too large to fit onto a single disc. Those who are eager to play the game straight away and not have to sit through what will most likely be a lengthy installation period canpre-load a digital copyof the game right now so they can boot it up as soon as it releases.

As for PC owners, there is still no confirmation as to whether the game will be released on PC or not. There were rumors that aPC version would be released next yearwhen a retailer posted a product listing for it, but it has since clarified that it was simply a placeholder.

Red Dead Redemption 2will release on PS4 and Xbox One on October 26th.
