Microsoft’s big push this holiday season is withthe Xbox One X, the system formerly known as Project Scorpio. Though the launch lineup for the new system took a slight hit withCrackdown 3getting delayed into 2018, Microsoft still has a number of games ready to go for it, including many currently available titles which are getting updates to enhance them further. One such game is Remedy’s time manipulating shooter,Quantum Break, though the newly enhanced title is going to push player’s download speeds to the limit.
After downloading the Xbox One X update forQuantum Break, players will need to ensure that they have at least 102.5GB available in hard drive space. What’s even more staggering is that for players who opt to download the optional TV show segments of the game, another 75.6GB of space is needed, bringing the grand total to a whopping 178.1GB. Compare that number to the relatively tame 44GB requirement when the title first launched back in 2016.
Keep in mind thatQuantum Breakdoes not require players to download the TV show portion of the game, allowing players to simply stream them in-game similar to an app like Netflix. Even still, a file size requirement such as this is unheard of in this day and age. However, with the industry trending more towards high powered games and 4K, perhaps requirements such as these will slowly become more common place.
Even after all the delays, Quantum Break launched in the spring of 2016 to praise from both critics and fans alike. The title quickly went on to becomeMicrosoft Studio’s biggest selling new IPin the current console generation, taking out best sellers likeSunset OverdriveandOri and the Blind Forest. Already known for being one of the best looking games on the console, Quantum Break looks to push the visuals even further with the 4K enhanced resolution.
Quantum Breakis available now on PC and Xbox One.
