At last year’s E3, Bethesda revealed the fast-paced, hero-based shooterQuake Championsto the world. With the game’s release set for later this year, Bethesda released a new trailer forQuake Championsat E3 2017 that showcased a slew of new content that is being added to the closed beta in its next update, includingWolfenstein’s BJ Blazkowicz as a playable character.
It looks as though BJ will be bringing his attitude and some signature weapons from theWolfensteinfranchise to theQuake Championsarenas. And speaking of arenas, the new trailer also gave players a glimpse at three new maps that will be added to the closed beta’s next update as well alongside BJ.
Besides new maps and BJ Blazkowicz as a playable character, the next update forQuake Champions' closed beta is also introducing a brand new weapon to the mix. Called the tri-bolt, the new weapon should shake things up in game’s online arenas.

The addition of BJ Blazkowicz inQuake Championsopens the door for Bethesda to add more characters from its other franchises in the game. In fact, sinceQuake Championshas such a similar art style toDoom, it wouldn’t be surprising at all to see Doom Guy make his way to the game. Characters from other Bethesda franchises likeDishonoredandFalloutseem like they would make strong additions toQuake Champions’rosteras well.
While the addition of BJ may make some fans more excited forQuake Champions' eventual release, some may have been hoping for news on apossible console release. Bethesda has left the door open forQuake Championsto make its way to consoles, but nothing official on that front has been announced since the game’s reveal last year.
News on a possible console release forQuake Championscould come at a later date. In the meantime, those playing the closed beta can enjoy the new content Bethesda is adding to the game while they wait on word for its official launch.
