WithPreyhavingofficially launchednot too long ago to generally positive reviews, it seems as if fans are starting to warm up even more so to the title, as the science fiction first-person shooter from Arkane Studios and Bethesda Softworks has now officially topped the UK games sales charts after being out for a couple of weeks. Although it didn’t debut in the number one slot during its first week of availability, the title has now earned the pole position on the charts after having ousted Nintendo’sMario Kart 8 Deluxefrom the throne.

Interestingly enough,Prey’s current foothold as the king of the mountain on the UK sales charts comes after a close race between it andMario Kart 8 Deluxeduring the former game’s debut week, as only 600 unit sales separated the two. Nevertheless, with the sci-fi title now having made it to top slot, this means that its movement out of second place and onto the peak officially makes it Bethesda’s first UK number one since 2015’sFallout 4.

WhilePreycelebrates its success as the number one video game in the UK at the moment, what may be even more noteworthy is the fact thatGrand Theft Auto 5is still showing up on the charts – as seen in the full listing of the charts below – as it sidles into the number two slot just below Bethesda and Arkane’s recently released game. WithGTA 5having released nearly four years ago, its continued sales success is definitely a testament to the quality and popularity of the 2013 Rockstar Games release.

AlthoughPreyis currently sitting pretty at the top of the UK charts, it will be interesting to see if it can manage to retain its position in the coming days, as next week will offer up a formidable opponents in the form of NetherRealm Studios’Injustice 2. Bearing this in mind, the number one spot could very well go to the DC Comics-inspired fighting game, as it has been considered as one of the most highly anticipated titles of 2017.

Preyis available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
