According toVariety,a new survival competition series,Predator vs. Prey,is in the works, and it will be hosted byReacherstar Alan Ritchson. Bunim/Murray Productions (The Real World, The Challenge) is developing the show, which will feature 15 contestants who’ve previously competed in survival series includingAlone, Outlast, Naked & Afraid,andSurvivor. They’ll compete in a 21-day game of hide-and-seek, which takes place on a 25-square-mile rugged wilderness course.
The cast will be separated into two groups: the Predators and the Prey.The Predators will be able to bank up to $500,000 for capturing the Prey. The Prey will have the opportunity to earn cash prizes for remaining in the game. Each episode will include a different game-changing challenge that forces the Prey out of hiding.Predator vs. Preywas developed by Bunim/Murray’s Senior Vice President of Development, Gayani Wanigaratne, and Alan, who’s not only the host of the show, but also the game master and executive producer.
In a statement, Gayani describedPredator vs. Prey, saying,“This series will be the ultimate test of grit and strength, pitting top survival stars against each otherin a relentless game of chase and survival through a challenging wilderness environment. Partnering with Alan to co-develop this format, fueled by his passion for the survival space, brings an authentic edge and fresh creative perspective. His first question to us was, when does he get to parachute into the wilderness to greet the players!”

I already have butterflies in my stomach thinking about the Predators hunting the Prey in this new reality competition series. The idea of an extreme game of hide-and-seek has me very intrigued, and I can’t wait to see how the contestants survive in the wilderness as well. Words such as"frightening"and"unpredictable"indicate thatthe show is going to be a harrowing experience.
Reality competition series have been around for so long that sometimes it feels as though there’s no new ground to cover in the genre. However,Predator vs. Preyseems to be something that viewers haven’t seen before, so I’m thrilled to know that it’s on the horizon. I’m anxiously awaiting the cast announcement, and to find outwhichSurvivorcast members will be competing, and, finally, to see who’ll win this ultimate test of survival.
