Thefinal Community Day event of 2021took place last weekend inPokemon GOand now it is time for players to start planning ahead for the new year. The first 2022 Community Day is scheduled for Sunday, January 16 and will offer trainers a chance to get out in the cold and hunt down a popular dual-type Pokemon while enjoying a long list of other bonuses and special activities.

When the January 2022Pokemon GOCommunity Day event arrives in the middle of next month, players are going to find themselves buried in Spheal spawns and special gameplay bonuses and oppportunities. The generation 3 Pokemon is a dual Ice- and Water-type and its final evolution, Walrein, has somepretty powerfulPoGOmetagame potential(especially for the PvP scene), which should help make this an extra popular event when it arrives. This upcoming Community Day comes right on the heels of the massive weekend-long December event, so players may have high expectations.

Luckily, the January 2022 Community Day event is well-positioned to draw a big crowd and reward players who take the time to spend three active hours in the mobile AR game that day. In addition to the meta-relevance of Spheal’s evolutions, the play bonuses are pretty solid ones for players who are still grinding towards the game’s increased level cap. 3x Catch XP combined with the greatly increased sightings and spawns makes this Community Day an ideal event for players looking to burn some Lucky Eggs and earn a level up. During the event (and up to two hours afterwards), trainers will be able toevolve Sealeo to get a Walreinthat knows the Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow. That’s just one perk though. There will the chance to catch a shiny Spheal and there are some other bonuses worth keeping in mind as well…

Additional Event Bonuses and Features

The rest of the January 2022 calendar of events inPokemon GOis still a mystery, but it will likely be revealed shortly after the upcoming winter holiday. There isusually an exciting New Year’s eventand it’s quite possible the Season of Heritage will deliver a list of other activities to help keep trainers engaged and online throughout the early weeks of the upcoming year.

That’s about everything players should need to know at this point, but a more detailed guide will arrive in the weeks leading up to the big event. The community should learn much more about exact details and other upcoming events throughout theearly days of the Season of Heritage. Be sure to check back in the near future for more Pokemon GO strategy guides, news, and updates. Until then, good luck out there, trainers!
