Since the very first months of the mobile phenomenon,Pokemon GOhas always taken cheating very seriously. The system for identifying (and defining) cheating and spoofing has evolved a lot over the first few years of the game’s life, but the company seems to have a goodwarning and ban systemin place at this point. Unfortunately, the latest update seemed to cause some false alarms with that system.
Starting over the weekend, manyPokemon GOplayers who claim to play according to the rules started receiving ban warnings as if they had been spoofing their location or breaking the rules in some other way. Obviously this led to a lot of panic and many players raced to the Niantic contact form to dispute the accusation.
Luckily, it seems like Niantic is confirming that many of these warnings were sent out by mistake. Here’s a look at one of the many messages that has been shared by a member of The Silph Road community…

Pokemon GOis a bit a lifestyle for hardcore players, so it’s no surprise that these false warnings threw up some serious red flags and cause a bit of panic. It seems like everything is resolved now, but if you received a warning, it wouldn’t hurt to contact support and find out whether it was legit or not.
