There’s already a big issue with Mega Evolutions inPokémon Legends: Z-Aahead of the game’s release later this year, and its arrival may only aggravate the problem. The next core game in the series,Legends: Z-Awill be a return to Generation 5’s Kalos region, but specifically in Lumiose City. Because of the Gen 5 setting,Mega Evolutions are returning inPokémon Legends: Z-A. For reference, it was in Kalos where players first gained access to the gameplay mechanic.
For far, promotional material for the game has shown thatseveral Mega Evolutions that we already know are making a comeback, such as Mega Charizard X, Mega Lucario, and Mega Gardevoir. Even so, there’s some expectation that the game will introduce brand-new Mega Evolutions – something that may be a way of compensating for a low number ofnew Pokémon inLegends: Z-A, considering that this is a Gen 9 title rather than the kickoff entry for Gen 10.
Mega Evolution Leaks Are Hurting Pokémon Legends: Z-A
Leaks Aren’t Always True
The big issue, at the moment, is that the leaks about new Mega Evolutions inPokémon Legends: Z-Aare hurting the game’s reputation. Even though it is fun to know what new forms will arrive with the upcoming game, from a fan perspective, leaks like these are creating expectations that may not be fulfilled, especially because several leaks may be false. There have been reports about anew Mega Evolution for Dragalge inLegends: Z-A, for example. Its rumored design was well received among the community.
However, there is no way of currently proving that it is true.A lot of players should already know to take leaks like these with a big grain of salt, but it’s impossible not to create some hope that the leaks are true, given how well-designed the rumored Mega Evolutions are. The leaked Mega Dragalge is actually one of the manyleaks aboutPokémon Legends: Z-A, and is not an isolated case whatsoever, but an example of how dangerous it can be to believe the rumors.
Legends: Z-A’s Release Could Be Negatively Impacted
Leaks Could Create Unreal Expectations For Players
Because of how leaks may be believed and interpreted, therelease ofPokémon Legends: Z-Acould further worsen the issue raised by the rumors. If the game is released with only half of what was leaked, or perhaps not a single new Mega Evolution, players may resent the title for it, and not all of that resentment would be the game’s fault, individually. As you muster up hopes and they are shattered by the reality of a game’s release, you could associate that the game is the core of the problem when, in truth, it’s the leaks’ fault.
For now, it is best not to put any trust in the leaks, as the information that is being spread may be inaccurate or even taken away from the game’s final form. Because of how secretive Game Freak normally is, you may only know the truth about new Mega Evolutions oncePokémon Legends: Z-Ais released on October 16, and if you manage your expectations now, you may have a better time with it when it arrives.
