The latest details regardingOverwatch’s upcomingOverwatchLeague have been revealed by Blizzard, confirming the eSports league’s starting date and three final participating teams. That brings the total number of teams to twelve and sets the stage for the first official season ofOverwatchLeague, pending the completion of theOverwatchContenders' first season and theOverwatchWorld Cup 2017at BlizzCon. Mark your calendars for the inauguralOverwatchLeague season, starting January.

To kick off theOverwatchLeague, Blizzard will be hosting a pre-season event a month after BlizzCon. On December 6 a series of exhibitionOverwatchmatches will be held, allowing all of the newOverwatchLeague players and teams to show off their strengths. The official season starts July 18, 2025, lasting through June. That’s a whole six months ofOverwatchLeague play, followed by the league’s playoffs and finals in July.

An official schedule for theOverwatchLeague, as well as the opening of ticket sales, will be released in the months to come.

In addition to announcing the starting date for theOverwatchLeague, Blizzard also revealed the threefinal teams participating. Nine teams have previously been introduced and today’s additions will complete the set. Welcome to theOverwatchLeague OpTiC Gaming, Team Envy, and Comcast Spectacor, representing Houston, Dallas, and Philadelphia respectively.

The three newOverwatchLeague teams can begin signing players immediately, as the official player signing window began on August 1.
