TheOverwatchLeague has embraced a fan’s crunch time meme after viewers criticized it for a crunch time Cheez-It ad. The Cheez-It ad is just one criticism that fans had for theOverwatchLeague in season three, as many weren’t happy thatstreams will be exclusively on YouTube.

However, one of the most popular memes about the ads was posted on Reddit. DocterrificDoc posted a new version of theOverwatchLeague logo that called it the “Crunch Time League”. It wasn’t just fans that enjoyed it, though, as the meme was also shown over the weekend in an officialOverwatchLeague stream. The Reddit user then confirmed that “a producer actually reached out to me, and with a quick paper signed - I let them use it!”
Most fans seem to be finding this funny, and are glad that theOverwatchLeague team knows how much it upset fans with the Cheez-It ad. It also stops Blizzard from facing any more criticism aboutOverwatchLeague this season. Before the season started, fans had criticized Blizzard for moving Overwatch League to YouTube without giving them any information about how theOverwatchLeague All-Access Pass orcheering with Bitswould work.
Some were also ready to criticize the company when it was revealed that apopularOverwatchLeague YouTuber had been given a copyright strikefor posting highlights from the stream.Overwatchgame director Jeff Kaplan was able to fix this, getting the team to remove the copyright strike, which meant that fans weren’t so upset.
After a report revealed thatYouTube paid $160 million to streamOverwatchLeague, fans may have felt that the Cheez-It ad was Blizzard making ad money more important than viewer entertainment. TheOverwatchLeague team seems to be part of the joke now, though, and hopefully means that there are no more issues with the ads.
Overwatchis available now for PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
