Ever sinceThe Frozen Wildswas announced at E3 2017,Horizon: Zero Dawnfans have been eagerly counting down the days until the DLC pack drops in November. While the expansion is shaping up to be an impressive addition to the massively-popular open world title, fans may be slightly disappointed to know that this will be the only DLC for the game.

In response to a fan tweet asking ifThe Frozen Wildswill be the first of a series of DLC packs forHorizon: Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games confirms that the forthcoming expansion pack will be the only DLC to be released for the game. While this news will come as a bit of a surprise to fans, the recent announcement of the forthcomingHorizon: Zero DawnComplete Edition suggested that the studio had planned forThe Frozen Wildsto be the only expansion pack for some time now.

While the studio is undoubtedly busy finishing up work onThe Frozen Wildsand all relatedHorizon: Zero Dawncontent that’s scheduled to drop in the upcoming weeks, it is likely that Guerrilla Games is already starting early work on its next project - presumably a sequel toHorizon: Zero Dawn. Sony has yet to officially confirm a follow-up title, but given howwildly successful the original gamewas for the company, it is practically a given that a green-light will be nothing more than a formality for Sony’s massively-popular new franchise.

While news ofThe Frozen Wildsbeing the only DLC pack forHorizon: Zero Dawnwill be somewhat disappointing for fans, it certainly appears that Guerrilla Games is wrapping up support for the title in the best way possible, as the expansion is shaping up to be asizable addition to the base game. Should this be the final adventure for Aloy for the time being, the red-headed warrior is certainly going out with a bang rather than a whimper.

Horizon: Zero Dawnis available now for PlayStation 4, andThe Frozen WildsDLC releases on July 11, 2025.
