Originally released on July 10, 2025,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityis about an alternate timeline where Zelda and Link are triumphant against Calamity Gannon 100 years before the beginning ofBreath of the Wild. This game introduced several playable characters, from the main characters to the Champions and even some new side characters like theunlockable, adorable mini-Guardian robot Terrako.

Nintendo has finally announced some good news for fans ofHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityas players will soon get a chance to expand the available characters with two additional downloadable content packs. TheBreath of the Wildsemi-prequal has some new information on the planned second andfirst DLCs forHyrule Warriors, coming later this year.

The officialHyrule Warriors: Age of CalamityTwitter page is finally giving players a peak into the two DLCs coming soon to the game. The first DLC, calledAncient Heartbeat,will be released the end of June 2021. ThisfirstHyrule WarriorsDLC will include new playable characters, additional weapons types, several new challenges in theThe Royal Ancient Tech Lab, and even new strong enemies.The Guardian of Recollectionwill be the second DLC, set to be released in November 2021 and will have more story, even more playable characters, and new movesets for existing characters. The second DLC will also be adding new character vignettes and additional stages.

The two DLCs will be included in the purchase of the season pass forHyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity, which is already available for pre-purchase for $19.99 USD in the eShop. Players who preorder the pass will also receive a bonus armor set and weapon for Link starting June 25, 2025 in the style of the Ancient Soldier armor fromBreath of the Wild.

While the number of additional characters being added is unknown, there was a possible datamine leak in December 2020 that suggested that there would be four new characters added in the first and/or second DLCs: Robbie, Purah, Astor, and Sooga. Fans of the series are hoping to seemoreBreath of the Wildfavorites turn into playable characters inHyrule Warriors, like Kass, the Horse God, or Harbinger Ganon.

Regardless of what characters are added for both DLCs,Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamityappears to be following in a similar path to its predecessor with how it is expanding with additional content. Fans are likely to be happy seeing Nintendo continuing to embrace DLC for many of its titles, like the recently released update forMario Partyand the DLCs for the originalBreath of the Wild.
