He has stated that the game is not a remake of an older game, but is also notResident Evil 8.
Recently, the onlyResident Evilgames that have been released from Capcom have beenremakes of the older gamesin the series, giving fans the chance to replay the original games on newer consoles with improved graphics. While the remakes have been met with positive reviews, for the most part, there are still the fans out there that want the franchise to move forward. For now, the next addition looks like it is going to be a spin-off story.
