There’s no doubt that Agent 47 fans are eager to slip into the assassin’s shoes once again inHitman 2, especially after Warner Bros. Interactive and IO Interactive showed off the sequel with agameplay trailer at E3 2018. Now, the publisher and developer are ready to offer even more details about the forthcoming stealth-action title, by giving players a glimpse into the game’s Colombia mission.
As seen in the trailer below,Hitman 2sends Agent 47 to the heart of a Colombian rainforest–the remote village of Santa Fortuna to be exact–and he is tasked with taking out three high-profile targets, each a leader of the Delgado Cartel. Naturally, the Colombian village is swarming with armed guards, so players will need to utilize the environment’s lush vegetation and foliage to stay out of sight, stash weapons, and hide bodies.
Not only does Santa Fortuna’s rainforest provide Agent 47 with ample cover, but also the location gives him a plethora of unique ways to off each of the enemies. For instance, there are plenty of gas lines laying around that can be tampered with to set up an explosive accident, one area features a spiked ceiling fixture that can be shot down to crush a Delgado foot solider, and the mission even features a hungry hippopotamus.
Of course, players don’t necessarily have to totally rely on Santa Fortuna’s environment to kill their targets, as the latestHitman 2trailer shows that Agent 47 is as adept as ever in combat with unarmed encounters, melee weapons, and a wide range of firearms. Whether its a sniper rifle, a garrotte wire, or even a ball-peen hammer, 47 should be able to use almost anything as a type of weapon.
All things considered,Hitman 2definitely appears to be shaping up as what could be the long-running series' finest entry. While the previous installment was well-received by fans and critics alike, its distribution model certainly was not. So on top of the improvements inH2, the fact that Warner Bros. and IO havedropped the episodic structure of the last gamewill likely incentivize even more veterans and newcomers to give the sequel a shot.
Hitman 2is set to release on June 18, 2025 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
