Fairy Tailis getting a full-fledged RPG game, which is excellent news for fans of the anime/manga series, but there is a pretty big catch when it comes to the game’s release.
For the uninitiated,Fairy Tailis an anime that followsNatsu Dragneel, Lucy Heartfilia, Gray Fullbuster, and Erza Scarletas they work as wizards in the mage guild Fairy Tail. They take jobs to make money, as well as save the guild and world from threats. The game was announced as an RPG to allow players the ability to go through the magical world of Earth Land as a wizard they have customized.

The catch for theFairy Tailgameis there will not be an English dub version available to purchase. For fans of the English voice cast, this will be a bit of a bummer because they won’t get to hear the voice they associate with Natsu or any other characters. English language players will have to use subtitles if they want to fully understand the game, which may be an inconvenience for some.
Anime video games lacking an English dub has started to become an unfortunate trend in the industry. Some may recall thatMy Hero One’s Justice, the fighting game based on the hugely popularMy Hero Academiafranchise, released without an English dub as well. It’s possible that this is due to budgetary restraints or perhaps due to anime games being fairly niche compared to other titles, but an explanation hasn’t been offered at the time of this writing.
But while some players may be disappointed with the lack of and English dub version, they may still be swayed to try the game for a chance to play as their favoriteFairy Tailcharacters. It is unclear at this time how the lack of an English dub may impact theFairy Tailgame, or why this decision was made with the popularity of the animein English speaking countries. We’ll find out if it has any impact on the game’s sales come launch next year.
